Nigerian Police Promotes 9 Senior Officers, Remarks by IGP Idris

The Nigeria Police Force Reward system recognizes promotion to the next rank as one of the motivational incentives to honour officers who have distinguished themselves in their various capacities and exhibited spectacular performance in discharge of their duties.

This brief ceremony is management’s recognition of some officers who have ennobled themselves through dint of hard work, dedication to duty and service to the community. As a deliberate management policy, more of such elevations are in the process for deserving officers.

Since the inception of this current Police administration, remarkable achievements have been recorded in various departments of the Force. These achievements are a result of the collective efforts of these senior officers whose devotion and conduct while performing their duties have been exemplary to say the least.

To this end, worthy of note are huge successes of critical national strategic operations, pragmatic and robust public relations, breakthrough in high profile investigations and landmark accomplishments in curtailing the menace of kidnappings and violent crimes throughout the country.

Similarly, tremendous successes were recorded in technical support, as well as fighting corruption and professional misconduct within the Force. In addition, these successes were facilitated courtesy of an effective and seamless administrative structure at the Force Headquarters.

On behalf of the Force management, I congratulate you on your very well deserved elevation; I implore you to wear your new ranks with deep sense of commitment to duty, responsibility and humility.

It goes without saying that, to whom much is given much is expected. You must see your elevations within the context of a springboard to greater challenges and increased efforts to accomplish organizational goals.

At this juncture, I therefore direct Departmental Heads, Zonal and State Commands, Formations and Units to reactivate the reward system within their powers to adequately reward deserving officers, in accordance with lay down rules and regulations.

On the flip side, in order to maintain discipline which is the bedrock of the Force, officers who deviate from the norms will be commensurately sanctioned to serve as deterrent to others

  1. Its unfortunate for many shortlisted Cadet ASPs & Inspectors [specialists] in the on going npf recruitment exercise as they were kept outside Police Staff college Jos under the cold weather for at least four days before being sent home.
    Many of the shortlisted candidates passed through hurdles traveling from distances for the training that commenced 31st Dec. 2016. There is little or no official information to the shortlisted candidate as the Npf official website is not responding rather it displays error messages on attempts to accessing it. Till date it still maintains same status.
    After spending at least four days outside the training college Jos, the commandant asked some medical candidates with the remarks “selected” in, while others sent home without proper information on their fate
