After Boko Haram Defeat, FG Re-opens 2 Major Roads in Borno

Segun Adeyemi, Abuja: The Federal Government formally re-opens two major roads in Borno State on Sunday following the total defeat of Boko Haram in the North-East by the Nigerian military.

The roads include the Maiduguri-Gubio-Damasak and the Maiduguri-Mungono-Baga roads.

COAS Lt. Gen. TY Buratai, Service Chiefs, the theater commander, Gen. Irabor, Governor Kashim Shetimma of Borno State led other dignitaries that grace the occasion of reopening of the roads that were closed since 2014 due to Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.

The dignitaries later have lunch with the gallant troops who crushed the insurgency.

The two major roads, which were earlier closed due to the activities of the insurgents in the area, are of strategic importance to the economy of the Lake Chad Region.
