Wilson Ujuwaren, Abuja- Sector Commander of the FRSC(Federal Road Safety Commission), Commander Edward A. Zamber, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, commended the EFCC for its involvement in license verification of some suspects and also urged the Commission to install speed limit devices in the Commissions vehicles.

“Please preserve your life and those of your staff by installing speed limit devices on all your official cars and please, don’t stop at that, also help us enforce this law on our road users to preserve their lives as well,” Zamber said.

Zamber made the remark while on a courtesy call to the South East zonal office of the Commission, where he commended the efforts of the Commission in its fight against corruption while extending its checks to the rampant use of the fake driving license by some criminal minded Nigerians who use them for account opening purposes amongst others.

He again commended the EFCC for always sending suspicious drivers licenses to the FRSC for proper verification of the authenticity of such licenses during investigations.

Responding, the South-East Zonal Head of the EFCC, Mr. Johnson A. Babalola pledged continuous collaboration with the FRSC and also solicited for a swift response to issues of license verification as most of the Commission’s cases are often time-bound. He also appealed to FRSC to clearly indicate when a license is forged, instead of just saying that the information on the license was not in their database.

According to him, the purpose of using fake license in opening accounts most times, is usually to move suspicious funds, and when attention is drawn to them by way of investigations, such accounts are always immediately abandoned as most are often opened without properly applying the Know Your Customer KYC directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN.

The Zonal Head then thanked the visitors and assured them of a stronger synergy between both agencies that must continue to get better by the day.
