The presidency has assured that the president reserves his highest respect for the institution of the judiciary as the third arm of government.

To this end, the president says he will not do anything to undermine the independence of the judiciary.

In a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity Garba Shehu, president Buhari says he remains a committed democrat, in words and in his actions, and will not take any action in violation of the constitution.

The recent surgical operation against some judicial officers, the statement further says is specifically targeted at corruption and not at the judiciary as an institution.

Fashola inspects federal roads

The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment towards provision of motorable roads to save lives of Nigerians travelling to various destinations.

Minister of power, works and housing Babatunde Fashola stated this while inspecting federal roads in Sokoto state.
