UN Security Council says Antonio Guterres is its choice for secretary-general.

The UN Security Council says Portugal’s Antonio Guterres is its unanimous choice to be secretary-general.

Samantha Power, the U.S. envoy to the UN, tweeted the news.Guterres is the ninth person to hold the position. He replaces South Korea’s Ban Ki-moon, who is retiring.

Guterres, a former Portuguese prime minister,  also served as UN High Commissioner for Refugees
