Police to Restructure Its Special Units
Edino Justice; Nigeria Police force is to restructure its Special Units to focus on protecting the state rather than have them assigning to persons. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris stated this while meeting with Commanders of various Special Units across the Federation
Among the security challenges facing the country are Insurgency in the North east, militancy in the South, Kidnapping and other violent crimes. The IGP says the reorganization of these units will be for improved training and training institutions, armament, logistics, as well as welfare for optimal performance.
He therefore warned them on adherence to discipline, police core values and democratic policing with an x-squad will be set up to monitor. It was first meeting with commands of units comprising Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism and Special Protection.
