Highlights of NBC 2nd Annual Lecture

Nigeria needs vibrant broadcast institutions that can function as instruments of democratization and development.

This is the view of stakeholders at the second annual lecture of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) held in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Atahiru Jega, among other speakers, berated the broadcast media for the partisan role it played in the 2015 general elections.

Prof Jega says broadcasting in Nigeria, as it is presently constituted, is a weak institution and does not support entrenchment of democracy.
