Outgoing Envoy Visits Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to do everything within his power towards restoring the confidence and faith of the nation’s internally displaced persons in governance and public institutions.

The president stated this while exchanging views with Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Asharaf Abdelkader.

Two other foreign diplomats were also received by the President.

Meanwhile, as part of its efforts to promote monetary, banking and financial cooperation in the African Continent ,the Association of African Central Banks AACB is looking outside the box for solutions to addressing the global economic slowdown.

President Buhari Meets Gen. Abdulsalami

The Former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar has appealed to Nigerians to show more understanding, support and cooperation to the genuine efforts by the Buhari Administration at confronting the nation’s fundamental problems for sustainable growth and development.

Correspondent Adamu Sambo reports that the former Head of State made the plea while speaking to newsmen after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.

The meeting which lasted about one hour centered on critical national issues which the former head of state said cannot be made public.

Vp On Renewable Energy

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the Federal Government has set a target to expand reliance on renewable energy to fifty percent of its power output by 2020 while receiving a delegation led by the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Nagabhushan Reddy, The Vice President explains that the country is doing some expandable work in solar energy adding about 1000 megawatts of solar.

CDS Receives Indian Counterpart

Pakistan is soliciting enhanced military bi-lateral relations with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to tackle common phenomenon of terrorism.

This followed the visit of the Director General of Joint Staff of the Pakistani Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Najib Ullah Khan to the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin at the Defence Headquarters.

He lauded the Nigerian Military for decimating the Boko Haram terrorists.

Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff General Olonisakin told his Pakistani counterpart that Nigeria will share her experience in counter terrorism with Pakistan.

Nigeria and Pakistan have long standing excellent military co-operations.

Police Arrests Kidnapping Gang

A notorious kidnap for ransom gang that has been linked to kidnapping and violent crimes along Kaduna-Abuja and its environs has been arrested after coordinated investigation by the intelligence response team of the IGP’S monitoring unit.

The three male suspects identified as: Haruna Adamu, 25 years gang leader, Shaibu Adamu, 18 years and Abubakar Saidu 30 years were rounded up at Ungwan Kawu Village in Dan Dumi Local Government area in Katsina State.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Don Awunah who briefed journalists in Abuja on the arrest said the gang was responsible for the kidnap of a current member in the House of representatives, Sani Bello on the 2nd august, 2016 in his farm along Kaduna-Abuja road as the kidnap of other persons traced to them.

DCP Awunah added that during interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the commission of the offence as the sum of 250,000, naira being part of the ransom money and a handset were recovered and marked as exhibit.

Minister Presents Water Sector Roadmap

The Federal Government has commenced move towards actualization of the sustainable development goals as it relates to access to water and sanitation with the public presentation of a new road-map for the water resources sector.

The road-map presented in Abuja is from 2016 to 2030.

FG Sets Seven Farm Sites For Graduate Farmers

The Federal Government is to set up seven farm sites for Graduate Farmers and commercial farming scheme in the FCT, Niger and Kaduna States.

This was disclosed during an assessment tour of irrigational facilities in the Upper Niger River Basin Authority by an Inter-Ministerial Committee assessing irrigation facilities across all Federal Basin Authorities in Nigeria.

FG To Check Production And Distribution Of Fake And Substandard Seeds

The Federal Government has established machinery towards addressing production and distribution of fake and substandard seeds in the country. Minister of State for Agriculture Senator Heineken Lokpobiri who stated this while inspecting Seed Production facilities in Abuja also challenged the National Agricultural Seeds Council to work hard in closing the gap between the demand and supply of quality seeds in the country.

Work Contractors Immobilized To Site

There are over two hundred federal road projects across the nation with most of contract lying fallow due to poor funding.

To revamp some of these critical projects, the present administration, through the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing disbursed funds to some contractors.

Ten skills acquisition centers are to be equipped to boost empowerment of Nigerian Women especially in the rural areas to reduce rural-urban drift.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reinstated Mr Okezie Ikpeazu as Governor of Abia State and set aside all the decisions of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court.
