NITDA To Sign MoU With Nigerian Communications Commission

The NITDA Acting Director General, Dr. Vincent Olatunji led the management team of the Agency on a courtesy call visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Headquarter in Abuja.

The visit was to seek area of collaboration towards effective and efficient ICT service delivery and making Nigeria the Africa’s ICT hub.

Major highlights of the visit include:
• Partnership on e-Nigeria ICT Conference
• Promoting Nigeria IT start-ups and local contents at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) in Dubai
• Review of ICT4D plan
• Scan ICT for official ICT statistics in Nigeria
• Smart City Initiative amongst others.

The areas of collaboration are targeted at National Economy Diversification and Foreign Direct Investments in Nigeria ICT sector

Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission was enchanted with the visit and assured that NCC is ready and willing to collaborate with NITDA since both operate in the same sector.

A nine man working group has been set up to draft an MoU to formalize the collaboration.
