FG Imposes Ban on PTA Levies In Federal Government Colleges

Minister-education

The Federal Ministry of Education has banned the payment of development levies imposed by Parent Teacher Association (PTA’s) in Federal Government Colleges to alleviate the sufferings of parents.

Similarly, no Parent Teacher Association of any Unity College is allowed to initiate any development in Unity Colleges without Federal Government’s authorization.

A statement signed by Mr. Ben Bem Goong, Director Press, Ministry of Education says the new measures are designed to arrest the situation where development levies imposed on parents by PTAs are higher than the school fees charged by the Federal government.

While acknowledging the complementary roles by the PTAs in the colleges, the Ministry says it will not allow PTAs to constitute themselves into a parallel Government in the schools at the expense of parents.
