#Rio2016 Table Tennis: Aruna Quadri to meet World No.1 in the Q.Final

Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri became the first player from Africa to reach the quarterfinals in the history of the Olympics. Aruna’s place in the quarter-finals, Monday, August 8, was secured by a four-two win against German opponent, Timo Boll ranked number ten in Rio.
Aruna won the first three sets 12-10 12-10, 12-5 in 10 minutes, and lost the next two to Timo, 11-3, 11-5. Aruna sealed his entry into the quarterfinals by winning the sixth set 11-9.
Before Monday’s win, Quadri was only at par with legend, Segun Toriola, who at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in China made it to the fourth round of the championship.
However, Quadri will face the biggest task of his career, when he battles world number one and world champion, China’s Ma Long in the quarterfinal match early on Wednesday August 10.
