  1. President Buhari Receives UN Mission

The Federal Government says it will abide by the ruling of the international court of justice in respect of the Nigeria- Cameroon boundary dispute in demonstration of the nation’s commitment to the rule of law.

President Muhammed Buhari gave the assurance while exchanging views with a special representative of the United Nation’s Secretary, Mohammed Ibn Chambas.

2. Nigeria Signs Re-Negotiated Ajaokuta Concession Agreement.

Nigeria has commenced the process for the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta steel plant as a re-negotiated concession agreement is signed for the completion of the plant.

3. South East Town Hall Meeting

The President Muhammadu Buhari –led administration is not in any way marginalizing any part of the country, but would rather build a more cohesive and united country whose citizens will be proud to be Nigerians with equal right and opportunity.

4. Town Hall Meeting Transmission Copy

the full package of the fifth edition of the town hall meeting for the south east held at the Nike Lake and resort hotel, Enugu will be aired on the network service of the NTA tomorrow Tuesday the 2nd of august, 2016 by 9 0 clock in the morning.

The town hall meeting organized by the ministry of information and culture featured the minister of information and culture Lai Mohammed and his counterparts from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Industry, Trade and Investment, environment, health, solid minerals, labour and petroleum resources.

5. Presidency on Boko Haram

The presidency has reacted to London telegraph’s article of 30th of July that, the federal government is diverting funds from UK aid for defeating Boko Haram to fighting political opponents of the administration.

While condemning this publication, the presidency states that, the UK government does not give development aids to Nigeria for use of military operations against Boko Haram.

Such financial aid is directly meant for medical and nutritional challenges by the IDPs.

A statement by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu further stressed that, when a similar publication was made in the past, the us embassy in Abuja condemned it.

The statement assured Nigerians that, the Federal Government is aware of the humanitarian challenges in the IDP camps and the needful will be done to alleviate the plight of the IDPs.

6. President Tasks Troops

Troops of operation Lafiya Dole have been directed to maintain the current tempo of the fight for full restoration of peace in the north east.

President Buhari gave the directive in a message to the troops in the theatre of operation in the north east.

8. UNICEF On Humanitarian Service

The United Nations children’s fund, UNICEF says it will keep providing assistance to millions of conflict- affected children in the north-east, despite the attack on a humanitarian convoy that injured one of its staffs.

a statement by UNICEF’s, chief of communication, Doune Porter says, even though travelling by united nations staff to high risk areas has been temporarily suspended; they are working at full strength in the Borno State Capital Maidugiri.

9. NAF Destroys Criminal Camps

The ongoing air operation set up by defence headquarters in order to dislodge pipeline vandals in the south east region has struck at

Criminal hideouts and camps harboring pipeline vandals Arepo and environs.

A statement signed by director of public relations and information group captain Ayodele Famuyiwa says the air operation Awatse Conename is aimed at providing support for the joint task force to dislodge pipeline vandals and other criminal elements.

The operation has sufficiently displaced the vandals from their current location at Arepo while their criminal activities have also been heavily disrupted.

the NAF said it is intensifying its operation day and night to neutralize the remnants of the vandals who they said might have relocated deep into the mangrove forest.

10. Govornor Amosun Commends Buhari on Terrorists Fight

Now let’s turn to Ogun State for another aspect of securing the nation in Arepo Ibafo and other border communities.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun has visited there and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring the flushing out of hoodlums terrorizing the area.

12. Education Ministry Appointments

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of 17 new chief executives of parastatals and agencies under the federal ministry of education,

they include Prof Abubakar Adamu rasheed for the National Universities Commission, [NUC], Dr Hamed Bobboyi, Universal Basic Education Commission, [UBEC], Prof Charles Uwakwe, National Examinations Council, [NECO], while a former vice chancellor of University of Ilorin. Prof Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede is the new registrar of the joint admissions and matriculation board, [jamb].

The Chief Executives of the Nigerian Educational Research Development Council, [NERDC] Nigerian French Language Village, Badagry, National Board for Technical Education and the National Arabic Language Village, Maiduguri, Borno state retained their positions.

The appointments takes effect from Monday august 1st 2016 and the 17 new chief executives are to be at the office of the minister of education on Tuesday august 2nd at 12 noon. This was contained in a statement by the director press public relations, Bem Goong.

13. Good Morning Nigeria: Assault on the Naira

The dialogue on the changing fortunes of the naira has been robust in many quarters with some analysts describing the naira as badly bashed and assaulted.

Despite the fall of the naira in recent times and its rippling effect, discussants on NTA’s good morning Nigeria say the answer to attaining stability of the naira is productivity as well as efficiency and effectiveness in Forex policies by the CBN.

14. Buhari at Civil Servants Housing Ground Breaking

President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration will ensure that all workers own their houses to help them contribute more to national development.

The president stated this in a message at the ground breaking ceremony of one thousand housing units for federal civil servants in Abuja.

15. FCT Minister Visits Rail Site

Minister of the Federal Capital Teritory, Muhammad Musa Bello has charged the Bwari area council administration to make Kubwa and environs conducive for the operations of the newly inaugurated Abuja- Kaduna railway.

16. Cervical Cancer Screening Dutse

Security Commissionaires attached to the headquarters of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission this morning shut the gate of the office to staff. Their action was in protest over nonpayment of pension and allowances.
