He again appealed to those who have the means, to remember the millions of Nigerians who are suffering deprivation because of violence perpetrated by terrorists.

President Buhari said he is aware of what Nigerians are going through and commended the amazing sacrifices they are making in the face of the temporary economic and social challenges reassuring that his administration is working assiduously towards providing basic needs and other amenities.

He reaffirmed that he will not relent in the fight against corruption and will ensure that all appropriate and legal measures are deplored to root out this malaise.

The president commended the armed forces and security agencies for the gains recorded in the fight against terrorists and the rescue of hostages in the north-east part of the country.

He appealed for the support, understanding and patience of all Nigerians and our international partners as his administration explores the fastest means to end the economic sabotage in the Niger Delta and amicably resolve the conflicts within the region.

The president promised Nigerians better days ahead even as he expressed gratitude for their unflinching support to his administration.

 

Senate President Sallah Message

Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged Muslims in the country to sustain the values and virtues which the holy month of Ramadan taught them in their day to day relations with god and fellow human beings.

Saraki in a statement by his special adviser, media and publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu also urged all Nigerians to remain steadfast and prayerful in the face of daunting socio-economic challenges. He said the present challenges are surmountable if Nigerians realign their character and deeds in tune with the wishes of Allah.

he stated that the country can only regain its lost glory when the citizenry, uphold the virtues of good neighborliness and eschew intolerance of other people’s opinion, corruption , abuse of power, disregard for due process and disobedience to the laws of the land. He urged all Nigerians, across religious divide, to maintain steadfast, prayerful and patriotic and refrain from using violence to express our stand on issues.
Speaker House of Representatives Sallah Message 
the speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has congratulated the entire muslin Ummah across the country on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
In a statement by his special adviser on media & public affairs, Turaki Hassan, the speaker urged Muslims to use the period of eid- el- fitri to pray for Nigeria to overcome its present challenges.

Dogara also implored Muslims to allow the lessons of humility, sacrifice, love and selfless service garnered during the 30-day fast to guide their lives and activities.

He noted that the holy month of Ramadan afforded Muslims the opportunity to show compassion, mercy and kindness to their fellow men and also advised that they should continue to put smiles on the faces of others beyond the Ramadan period.
The speaker also called for prayers for the success of the country’s leadership under president Muhammadu Buhari for god to continue to guide, protect and give him the wisdom to steer the affairs of the state and actualize the change agenda.

He affirmed the national assembly’s commitment to upholding the tenets of democracy and championing the cause of the electorates at all times, the speaker promised that the house will continue to initiate laws and legislative interventions to support the change agenda and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

 

Federal Government Declares Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared tomorrow Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th of July as public holiday.

A statement from the ministry of interior explains that the declaration follows the directive by the president-general of the supreme council for Islamic affairs and sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar the third, to the effect that the Ramadan fast continues today as a result of the non-sighting of the moon.

The statement quotes the minister of interior lt General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau as urging Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence while giving full support to the Buhari administration in its efforts to pursue the socio-economic and political growth of the country.

The minister further wishes Nigerians a peaceful celebration.

 

Eid Ground Set to Host Worshippers

The Abuja National Mosque management board says all is set at the Eid ground to host worshippers for the two Rakaat prayers which are in line with the Islamic injunction to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Acting executive secretary of the board, Abdulkareem Muazu stated this in Abuja.

IGP Promises Adequate Security Throughout Sallah Celebration

Meanwhile, the acting inspector-general of police, Ibrahim Idris has also ordered all zonal headquarters and command commissioners of police to ensure adequate security in their areas of responsibilities throughout the duration of the eid-el-fitri celebration.
