Forty three years ago, the United Kingdom was among the 28 nations which made history by forming the European Union- EU, but again it has made another history by its exit from the same union.

2. Buhari on Niger Delta Militants

President Muhammadu Buhari has described as unfortunate and disturbing the wanton destruction of properties of the nation’s critical assets by militants in the Niger delta and made a case for intervention by well-meaning Nigerians in the interest of the economy.

The President was speaking at the breaking of Ramadan fast with members of the all progressives’ congress APC.

3. Vice President on Rebuilding the Nation

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has stressed to Nigerian elites the need to give back to society saying this is the right time to make sacrifices in rebuilding the nation.

The Vice President stressed this at a dinner in honour of the minister of industry, trade and investment, Okechukwu Enelama.

5. Army on Rumours of Coup

The Army high command says their loyalty to the commander-in-chief is undivided and that it is deploying all resources to find out the source of rumours of coup plot.

This was after a closed door meeting of the chief of army staff lt. general Tukur Buratai with General Officers Commanding- GOCs and other commanders to review the general security situation and operations across the country.

The general officer commanding one division, Kaduna, major- general Adeniyi Oyebode briefed the journalists after the meeting.

6. NAF to Tackle Emerging Security Threat in Kaduna

Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai has solicited the support of the Nigerian air force to tackle the emerging trend of security threats in Kaduna State.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai made this request when he visited the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar in Abuja.

7. Resolution of Kogi State House of Assembly Crisis

Kogi State House of Assembly crisis has been resolved.

At a reconciliatory meeting convened by Governor Yahaya Bello, members of the two factions agreed to sheath their swords for peace to reign in the state.

Clement Oloruntoba reports that the legislators have agreed to reconstitute the principal officers when the house reconvenes after its current break.

8. Government Big Plans for Sugar

In a bid to boost the nation’s revenue base, the federal government is keen on re-positioning the agro-industry to help meet national food demand, create jobs and stimulate export.

The sugar industry though at its teething stage holds much promise as a key area of realizing self-sufficiency.

The eight judicial retreat of the community court of justice ECOWAS is holding at Goshen City Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

Participants who are mostly judges from across ECOWAS member states are deliberating on issues that will improve case management system of the court
