Senate President Bukola Saraki Trial at CCT

The code of conduct tribunal has fixed July 13th for ruling on a motion filed by senate president Abubakar Bukola Saraki seeking the chairman, Justice Danladi Umar to disqualify himself from further participating in the on-going trial over allegation of bias.

Buhari Appoints New Inspector General of Police

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Kpotun Idris as the acting Inspector General of Police.
He is to succeed Mr. Solomon Arase who retired this Tuesday after 35 years in service.
Until his appointment Mr. Ibrahim Idris from Niger State was the AIG in charge of operations at the force headquarters.

Fayemi on Steel Products Export

Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dr. kayode Fayemi has re –emphasized government’s stand on export of steel products as one enterprise which should enjoy unfettered support.

Fayemi said this during facility tours of the African foundries limited located in Ogijo local government area of Ogun State, and western metal products company limited at Ibafo of the same state.

He said that all issues that inhibited exports of steel products would be looked into with a view to subjecting them to a review that would be acceptable to government and investors.

FCTA Releases Projects Counterpart Funds

The FCT Administration has released 5.7 billion naira to various development partners being counterpart funds for the projects they are executing in the federal capital territory.

The FCT Permanent Secretary, Babatope Ajakaiye said this at an interactive session with information officers under the FCT Administration in Abuja.

He said other releases are 1.7 billion naira to universal basic education board, about 46 million naira for Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) projects, and 113million naira for FCT Fadama while 2.9 billion naira and 808.7 million naira were for counterpart funds for the Abuja rail projects as well as its consultancy services.
