Federal Government Suspends Tenure Policy

The Federal Government has suspended tenure policy in the federal civil service, with immediate effect.

The directive is contained in a circular to all ministries, departments and agencies, signed by the head of thec Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita.

The circular which conveyed the president’s directive said the suspension is with immediate effect.

All concerned are advised to comply accordingly.

Federal Government to Digitize Record of Public Servants

The head of the civil service of the federation Winifred Oyo Ita says efforts are on-going to ensure digitization of records in the Federal Civil Service.

She stated this when she received participants of class 22 of the policy strategy and leadership course of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru.

She explained that a verification exercise of directorate level officers in all ministries, departments and agencies had been carried out to produce accurate bio data of all levels of officers for informed leadership and succession plan in the service.

She further assured that the government had no plans to streamline the workforce; rather, she said, it was doing everything possible to improve the welfare of its work force in areas of housing, health and pension.

She made this known in a statement signed by the assistant director media relations Mohammed Manga.

Public Hearing on Sexual Harassment Bill

Senate President Bukola Saraki says the bill for an act to prohibit sexual harassment of students in tertiary institutions is part of the senate’s legislative agenda to promote equality and inclusiveness, while protecting the rights of women, children, youths and the vulnerable.

He said this at a public hearing on the bill.

The system enables citizens to lodge their complaints online, or by dialing a toll-free number.
