The minister of interior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau has denied that the federal government has signed a tripartite agreement on the voluntary repatriation of Nigerian refugees from Cameroon.

In a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Bassey Okon Ekpenyong the minister said that only tripartite talks were held between Nigeria, Cameroon and the United Nations high commissioner for refugees, which are expected to culminate in the eventual signing of agreement between the heads of states of Nigeria and Cameroon in July, 2016.

He said the meeting discussed a framework for the voluntary repatriation of Nigerian refugees being hosted by the Cameroonian government.

He also appreciated the brotherliness extended to the Nigerian refugees by the government and people of Cameroon.
