Joint Press Briefing: INEC Chairman And IGP Arase Speaks On Rivers Re-Run Election

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, IGP Solomon Arase, and National Commissioners all at the press briefing held in INEC headquarters.

Let me assure all Nigerians that INEC will never recruit Election Duty Personnel in Partisan Manner.

“Non of d EO’s currently posted as Heads of our LGA offices in Rivers State will participate in d Election instead they will be confined to the INEC Headquarters in Porth Harcourt where no election Day activity is taking place.” Said Prof. Yakubu

On security issue IGP Arase reiterate that the security architecture for the election is being perfected, “let me reiterate that the role of Nigerian Police in the electoral process is clear. IGP

INEC Chairman “We have drawn the EO’s 4rm 15 states of Federation and INEC Headquarters who shall return to their duty Post at the Conclusion of the election”

“Smart card Reader will be used for the confirmation of PVCs and authentication of Voters. The card readers have been configured and fully charged” “All non-sensitive materials have already been deployed to each of d 23LGAs.” INEC Chairman

Accreditation and Voting will take place simultaneously from 8am-2pm while collation of results at the Polling Unit’s will commence when the last on the queue voted.
