Federal Government To Establish Inter-Ministerial Committee To Fast-Track NNPC Reforms
An Inter-Ministerial Committee will soon be constituted by the Federal Government to speed up the re-organisation and reformation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC.
President Muhammadu Buhari who announced this at a meeting with the chief Executive Officer of the International Finance Corporation IFC JIn Yong Chai said this is inevitable in view of pervasive corruption and flagrant abuse NNPC’s operation guidelines in the recent past.
He said reforming the NNPC is also part of efforts towards boosting the revenue so that the the Governing APC can effectively implement its programme of change and significantly improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
Mr Yong Chai told president Buhari that with proper reformation and reorganisation, NNPC can become Africa’s largest oil company.
He commended the president for bringing strong leadership and monumental changes since coming to power saying Nigeria now more than ever has the opportunity to become highly reputable.
The IFC Executive is of the view that in NNPC, the Federal Government can create an entity that is dominant in Africa and this is the right time to do so with the momentum created by president Buhari.
