Open University Partners Coders4Africa, to Train 1 Million Nigerians
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) working with Coders4Africa, a consulting company is targeting to train one million software developers in Nigeria.
This is because it believes that investment in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector is a catalyst towards the diversification of the Nigerian economy.
Information and Communication Technology is at the centre of achievements in every developed country and a major contributor to economic development.
India, for example, trains about one million software developers every year that go ahead generates over $200 million dollars annually and create employment.
To make sure this happens in Nigeria, the National Open University of Nigeria is partnering with coders4Africa in order to develop more ICT experts in the country.
Software development is one field that is yet to be tapped despite is potential as a lucrative venture.
The experts say that this is one solution to the mass unemployment in Africa
The partnership is seen as one that every school in Nigeria should embrace and the government should support.
