National Council On Fire Prescribes Fire Safety Code As Minimum Standard
The 6th Conference of the National Council on Fire has ended in Kaduna with a challenge to Nigerians to embrace fire safety code as a prescription of minimum standard for safety from hazards resulting from explosion. Stakeholders in separate remarks identified safety measures from fire, explosion and dangerous situation to include prevention which is said to be better than cure.
In a communiqué participants underscored the establishment of a code enforcement department and units as key to effective implementation of the National Fire Safety Code. The need for fire authorities to embark on awareness campaign and publicity drive as well as the need to make the Safety Fire Code easily available and accessible to the public also came to the fore.
