Miniser Of Works Launches Road Safety Guideline To Reduce Road Accident

The newly designed Road Safety Guideline is expected to align with the Federal Road Development Project’s objective of reducing fatalities on Nigerian Roads by fifty percent.
The Minister of Works stated this during the Official presentation of the 2014 Road Safety Guideline by the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute.
Minister for Works , Mike Onolemenmen said the ministry has recently updated it’s highway design manual in view of global development in the road sector
According to a 2013 report from WHO, Nigeria’s 200,000 kilometer road network was adjudged the most dangerous as it accounts for the country’s highest road fatality in in Africa.
The upgrade of Road safety Guidelines which is in line with global best practice is expected to address issues of safety on the nation’s growing road network.
The Nigerian Road Safety Guideline is used to assess the safety of road ways based on existing conditions
