NULGE Suspends Strike

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE has suspended the three day warning strike earlier scheduled to commence this Monday. The planned strike was to express the displeasure of the Union against the decision of the Senate that thrown away Local Government autonomy in the ongoing 1999 Constitution Review exercies.

The National President of NULGE Ibrahim Khaleed says the decision to suspend the strike was reached after the House of Representatives who voted in favour of Local Government autonomy and the intervention by the Speaker House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

The Union added that it is not over yet as it will intensify lobby of all levels to see that Local Government administration becomes autonomous.
