House and Police Meet on Tinted Glass Issue

Appearing before the House Committee on Police Affairs a representative of the Inspector General of Police, DIG, Suleiman Fakai explained that law abiding citizens can apply for a police permit to tint their glasses. He added that the permit is free but that applicants would have to undergo security checks before such permits are granted.

The House Committee on Police Affairs led by Chairman Hon Usman Bello Kumo cited cases of alleged police harassment due to the use of tinted glasses. After on end of a closed session, the Chairman announced that permits for the tinted glasses would now be available at designated centres, apart from the Police headquarters.

In another development, the House Committee on anti corruption has ordered Dantata and Sawoe the contractor handling the Kano-Maiduguri road to urgently provide details of taxes paid on the job since the award of the contract in 2006. Chairman of the Committee Hon James Faleke says the directive is part of the Committees fact finding mission regarding allegations of underpayment of taxes leveled against the contractor.
