By Deinde Falase

Executive members of the Joint Health Service Union have assured the House Committee on Health, that the Union will not embark on a strike for now. The Union gave the assurance after a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Health at the National Assembly.

Interacting with the House Committee on Health as Chairman, Joint Health Services Union Olukayode Femuren, lamented that nothing much had changed in terms of the welfare of its members despite the 2012 collective agreement signed by the Union and the Federal Government. Responding, the Chairman House Committee on Health Ndudi Ezumeles called for calm on the part of the Union. He assured that the Ministers of Health and Labour as well as Chief Medical Directors of teaching hospitals would soon be called for a meeting that would involve the Health Services Union as a way of amicably resolving contentious issues thus avoiding the need for an industrial action by the Allied Health Professionals.
