Ondo Land Reforms

The problems usually associated with land dispute in Ondo state will soon be a thing of the past as a systematic method of land titling and registration is under way. The new land reform programme is at the instance of the Presidential Technical committee on land reform in collaboration with the National Orientation agency and some stakeholders. Toyin Batire report that the committee was at the palace of Deji of Akure to sensitize the people.

The three heads of the adhoc committee said the exercise is to eradicate the issue of land disputes and also protect all land owners from illegal encroachment. They emphasized that the new certificate of occupancy that will be issued within thirty days can be obtained from land owners’ Local Governments for easy access. The Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adesida and the Olu of Ilu Abo, Chief Olu Falae applauded the programme and promised to sensitize their subjects at the grassroots. The presidential technical committee on land reform chose Ondo and Kano states as pilot states for the commencement of the exercise.
