DSP Advocates Closer Ties with China

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu says in view of the primacy of parliamentary diplomacy in global affairs, closer cooperation between the nation and parliaments of Nigeria and China is desirous given the leadership role they play in their respective continents. Senator Ekweremadu stated this while granting audience to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, Mr. Deng Boqing who called on him. He said Nigeria and China need to take advantage of the new vista of International relations to accelerate peace and socio-economic development in both countries.

The Deputy Senate President expressed optimism that  the accomplishments of China in the growth of democracy and general renaissance could inspire and impact in Nigeria’s transformation agenda.

Ambassador Boqing had earlier commended Nigeria’s leadership role in peace keeping and security in Africa. He expressed the willingness of China to maintain and expand existing bilateral relations with Nigeria.
