Governor Nwifuru Backs Community Policing, Assures Robust Security Network

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has called for the introduction of Community Policing as a panacea for the security challenges facing the country.

The Governor stated this in office, when the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia Suleman Yusuf, paid him a courtesy visit.
In a Press Release signed by the Chief press secretary to Ebonyi State Governor, Dr Monday Uzor, emphasized Governor’s stand on the imperativeness of community policing, attributing the peace and tranquility in the State to the co-operation between the people and the police.

“Community Policing is the best option in crime prevention. The reason is because you must first of all know the terrain before you act.
“Community policing is a kind of information giving. It is my duty to protect lives and properties.

He called on the Nigerian police to introduce a reward system that will encourage officers and men of the Force to carry out their duties more effectively.
“We must at this point encourage performing officers by rewarding those who put their lives on the line to protect lives and property of the citizens”
Speaking, the AIG Suleman Yusuf, told the Governor that the purpose of the visit was to interface with the officers and men of the command to enhance their operations and pleaded with stakeholders to join the police for all round security.
“I am equally here to appreciate you for the support you have been given to the police in Ebonyi State to be able to perform excellently.
“My plea is that other stakeholders should join us in Policing”.
AIG Suleman Yusuf assumed office as AIG zone 9 on December 3, 2024.
