Police Rejigs Spy Police
The Nigeria police force is reviewing its supernumerary police, known as spy police in the attainment of a safe and secure environment.
Francis Fom reports that the decision is in line with 2022 Police Act as amended which formally establishes the Supernumerary Police as an integral unit within the Nigeria Police Force.
The Act further defines their powers, privileges, and functions, as well as their supervision by the Nigeria Police Force, including their uniforms and accoutrements thereby ensuring a standardized visual identity.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center has apprehended an Anonymous hacker in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, offences against the Official Secrets Act, leakage of classified ‘restricted’ documents.
The Force also disclosed that The suspect had illegally accessed police-restricted data and posted directives from the office of the Inspector-General of Police, and many other restricted documents with the aim of jeopardizing the security network in Nigeria.
