Lokpobiro Refute Claims of PMS Increase
The Federal Government says it is compelled to address what it calls outright falsehood currently being circulated on social media, claiming that the Minister of state Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has directed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to increase petroleum prices to one thousand Naira (N1000) above the approved pump price.
A Statement by Special Adviser, Media and Communication To the Minister for Petroleum
Resources (Oil) Nnemaka Okafor condemned the claim, describing it as baseless, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to incite public discontent.
It stressed that the Infomation is devoid of truth and should be recognized as an intentional effort to mislead the public.
The Statement Reitrates that NNPCL operates as an independent entity under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), with a fully empowered Board of Directors. The Ministry of Petroleum Resources does not, and will not, interfere in the internal decisions of NNPCL.
The Ministry Urges the public to dismiss The Misinformation
urging Nigerians to be vigilant
and rely only on information from verified and official channels.
