FG To Release 800 Million Dollars For Substations & Distribution Networks Construction

To address cases of load rejection by the electricity distribution companies,Federal Government says eight hundred million dollars will be release for construction of new substations and distribution networks under the presidential power initiative

Minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu says the money will ensure the construction of substations for lot 2 substations and distribution lines for lot 3 at the cost of four hundred million dollars each.

The power minister who is on facility tour of a power company in China, explains that lot 2 of the project covers, Benin, Port Harcourt and Enugu distribution companies franchise areas, while lot 3 covers Abuja, Kaduna, jos and Kano distribution companies franchise areas.

Industry record shows that recently the distribution companies rejected 1400 mega watts of power, the development which the power minister laments moreso as federal Government sustains commitment to ramp up generation to 6000 mega watts by December this year
