Nigerian Navy Extends Operation Delta   Sanity

Operation Delta Sanity launched in January 2024 by the Nigerian Navy to combat oil theft has been extended by 90 days.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla says this is in line with the President Tinubu’s directive to eradicate crude oil theft and ramp up Nigeria’s production for an improved economy.

OPERATION DELTA SANITY involved the deployment of personnel, platforms, helicopters and UAVs on proactive surveillance and interdiction operations across the Niger Delta area. Operations yielded the recovery of stolen crude oil products, the dismantling of Illegal Refining Sites and arrest of about 22 suspects and dismantling about 122 illegal refineries as of April 2024.
