National Assembly Suspends Plenaries

The Senate and House of Representatives adjourned plenary in honour of late member of the House, Olaide Akinremi who died Wednesday morning after a brief illness.

National Assembly Correspondent Mitaire Ikpen reports that it is a tradition of both chambers to suspend a day’s plenary and other legislative activities in honour of a demised lawmaker.

A one minute silence was observed separately in the red and green chambers after which plenaries were adjourned to Thursday 11th of July 2024.

The presiding officers extended condolences to family members and associates of the late lawmaker.

Aged 51, late Olaide Akinremi represented Ibadan North Federal constituency of Oyo State as a ranking member of the House of Representatives.

He served as Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions.
