New Islamic Year: SOSG Declares Monday Work-Free Day

Sokoto State Government has declared Monday, the 8th of July 2024, which is the 2nd of Al Muharram 1446 AH as a public holiday to enable people of the state celebrate the new Islamic year.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to Sokoto State Governor, Abubakar Bawa.

Gov. Ahmed Aliyu called on the Muslim Ummah to redidicate themselves to the worship of the Almighty Allah, abstain from all evil deeds and all forms of innovations in Islam.

He further stressed the need for Muslims to use the new Islamic calendar for sober reflections, do a self assessment and make amends in the new year.

Gov. Aliyu wishes the Muslim Ummah a prosperous new year.
