ECOWAS 65th Ordinary Summit

Nigeria is ready to give a new momentum to the fight against terrorism in the ECOWAS sub region with its counter-terrorism centre located in Abuja.

Chairman of ECOWAS authority of heads of states and government, President Bola Tinubu made the commitment at the sixty-fifth session of the community underway in Abuja.

The unconstitutional take-over of government and the subsequent decision of the three Sahel countries to opt out of ECOWAS still remain a concern for the community.

The session is appraising the enormous challenges facing the sub region, including terrorists activities and violent extremism vis-a-vis the efforts at combating them.

But president Tinubu underscores the importance of peaceful and secure society to the integration and economic prosperity being pursued by the bloc.
