VSF Inaugurates N180M Public Structures in Yobe
The Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Thursday in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government, Yobe inaugurated public structures worth N180m.
Prof. Sunday Ochoche, VSF Executive Director, said at the event that the gesture was aimed at helping the local people who are affected by the insurgency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the VSF has the vision to restore the dignity and wellbeing of victims of terrorism and insurgency across the country.
“The entire projects which cost over N180m is geared towards the re-establishment of local governance and the restoration of basic social amenities in the affected areas and the state entirely.
“The reconstructed structures at the Local Government Secretariat include the main Secretariat complex, Agric Department, Primary Healthcare Department, Local Education Authority Department and Fire Service Units.
“Likewise at the General Hospital, Buni Yadi, the Amenity and Antenatal Ward, three blocks of seven bedrooms, two blocks of three bedrooms and seven blocks of two bedrooms at the staff quarters were reconstructed.
He added that VSF also reconstructed two blocks of three classrooms, eight blocks of two classrooms and one block of four classrooms at Buni Yadi primarily school among other projects.
Ochoche disclosed that the second phase of VSF programme in the state, which is worth N1.5b, would also focus on the critical aspects of infrastructure in the state.
While appreciatinag the state government’s full support, Ochoche reassured that VSF would continue to bring succour to victims across the country and to ensure that all resources are utilized judiciously.
Buni Yadi was one of the local governments captured by the Book Haram insurgents on Feb. 25, 2014, where about 60 boys were killed at the Federal Government College in the town. (NAN)
