A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Friday, has ordered the remand in prison of two men, Mohammed Emmanuel and Mohammed Yerima, for alleged robbery.

The accused are being tried on a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, robbery, house breaking and theft.

The Police prosecutor, Insp. Abdullahi Maiyaki, told the court that one Halima Musa reported the matter to the police on Sept. 21.

Maiyaki said the accused had disguised as women in a hijab, attacked the complainant with a knife on the same date at about 12:00 am, and dispossessed her of a Techno cell phone and N50, 000 cash.

The prosecutor further told the court that the accused had on Sept. 16, also broke into the apartment of the complainant and carted away a Samsung Plasma TV, Gold Jewellery, radio and pressing iron, all valued at N387, 000.

According to him, during police investigation, the duo confessed to have committed the crime with two others, now at large.

Maiyaki said the offences contravened Sections 348, 287 and 298 of the penal code.

The plea of the accused was however not taken, as the Magistrate, Mr Hassan Mohammed, held that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the case.

The magistrate ordered the accused to be remanded in prison till Oct. 26, when the case would come up for mention.

Hassan ordered the prosecutor to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.(NAN)
