An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Friday  dissolved an11-year-old marriage between Mrs Folake Omosanya and her husband, Ojo for the man’s waywardness and frequent fighting of his wife.

Dissolving the marriage, the ‎President of the Court, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, said that the respondent lacked care for the woman and her children and that the marriage had broken irretrievably.

Ogunsemi ordered that the petitioner should be responsible for the welfare and education of Oluwabukunmi, their seven-year-old child.

He further ordered that the respondent should be responsible for the upkeep and education of their other children, Okikioluwa, 12, and Damilola, 9, at all levels.

The president further granted both parties unrestricted access to their child/children in the custody of the other.

Folake, 40, a herbal‎ drink seller and a resident of No.32 Araromi Street, Ikere-Ekiti, had told the court that the respondent was a trouble maker.

The mother of three alleged that her estranged husband ‎often beat her over trivial matters and was very stubborn.

The petitioner told the court that the respondent was wayward and often indulged in dishonest businesses.

‎Folake prayed the court to dissolve her marriage with the respondent to enable her to take good care of her children.

She ‎assured the court that she would be responsible for the welfare and education of Oluwabukunmi at all levels while the others, Okikioluwa Damilola, should be under the custody of the respondent.

Ojo, 41, a commercial driver and a resident of No.8, Moshood Road, Ikere-Ekiti, had denied the allegations.

He said that the petitioner willingly packed out of his house in 2013 without any reasonable excuse.

The respondent prayed the court not to release any of the children to her because her ‎new husband would maltreat them.

He, however, agreed with the petitioner that the court should dissolve their marriage. (NAN)
