Eid-el-Kabir: Federal lawmaker Preaches Tolerance, Harmony

Mr Ogbonna Nwuke, a former member of the House of Representatives,  on Friday described the Eid-el-Kabir as a reflection of Islam’s   basic focus on  tolerance, harmony and spiritual actualisation.

Nwuke said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Friday  in his goodwill message on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

“As Muslims  celebrate, our hearts goes out to them and we wish them well as they become stronger spiritually,” he said.

Nwuke urged Muslims to use the celebration  to pray for the peaceful co-existence of Muslims and Christians  in the country.

“Frankly, there is no alternative to Nigeria, it means that all of us as Nigerians whether we are Christians or Muslims must make certain sacrifices to keep the nation united.

“It doesn’t matter what your ethnic background is, we must come together; Nigeria is the way forward for all of us because a fragmented Nigeria is not what we want,” he said.

The former federal lawmaker  said  political, religious and traditional leaders are united in their commitment to a united country.  (NAN)
