In Kebbi: Gov Bagudu Warns Local Government Workers Against Truancy

The Kebbi State Government has warned local government workers against truancy.

The state’s Deputy Gov. Alhaji Samaila Yombe, gave the warning on Thursday while visiting the N-Power Registration Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

He charged the workers to always be punctual at their duty posts, as the government would no longer condone truancy in the local government councils.

Yombe also said his unscheduled visit was to ascertain the level of response by unemployed youths in the area to the N-Power registration.

He urged those who had not joined the programme to avail themselves of the opportunity.

The deputy governor also encouraged local government workers, who were earning a monthly salary of less than N20,000 and had the requirements needed for N-Power enrollment to consider registering for the programme.

He said that all local government workers who applied and were selected for the programme would be given the opportunity to serve in their places of choice.

“The Atiku Bagudu-led administration will not relent on its efforts at fulfilling its promises to the citizens,” Yombe said.

Earlier, the state Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Nayaya, expressed concern at the attitude to work by some local government staff members.

“I wonder how someone can have the conscience to be absent from work and still expect his monthly salary.

“We will work tirelessly to fish out the culprits and deal with them accordingly,” he said. (NAN).
