Eid El-Fitr: Yobe Government Imposes Restriction of Vehicular Movement
The Yobe State Government has imposed Restriction of Vehicular Movement during the Eid El-Fitr Sallah celebrations.
This was stated in a press released issued by the Director of Press Affairs to the Governor of the State, Abdullahi Bego on Saturday.
“This is to inform members of the public that His Excellency Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has approved the placement of restriction of vehicular movement throughout the state as part of measures to ensure secure and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr prayers marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
“Accordingly, all vehicular movement in the state is restricted with effect from 10.00pm tonight (Saturday 24th June 2017) to 10.00am on Sunday (25th June 2017).
“The restriction is, however, conditional on the sighting of the new moon tonight and confirmation that the Eid-el-Fitr will be tomorrow Sunday.” He said.
According to the Statement, if the moon has not been sighted and the Eid will be on Monday, the restriction will apply ONLY from 10.00pm on Sunday (25th June 2017) to 10.00am on Monday (26th June 2017).
Bego advised the public to note that, stemming from this measure, no vehicle will be allowed in any Eid prayer ground throughout the state.
“The Yobe State Government places this restriction in the interest of public safety following consultations that His Excellency the governor had with heads of law enforcement agencies in the state.” He added.
