Update On Twin Suicide Bomb Blast At A Mosque In University of Maiduguri
Musa Baba, Maiduguri: The National Emergency Management Agency says four persons including the suicide bombers were killed in an early morning attack at the University of Maiduguri, Borno state.
The incidence of twin suicide bomb blast at the University of Maiduguri happened at gate 1 Mosjid (Mosque) at around 5 am in the morning when Muslims faithful’s were preparing to say early morning prayers.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of NEMA Sani Datti says One of the suicide bombers detonated his explosives at a Mosque near Gate 1 when people were observing their early morning prayer, the second one occurred around Gate 5 of the University.
One of the casualties at the blast scene was Prof. Aliyu Usman Mani, he was in the Mosque inside University of Maiduguri while observing the dawn (Fajr) prayer today.
Prof. Mani is one time the Director of Unimaid Veterinary Teaching Hospital (1997-2000). Head of Department (2005-2010). Acting Dean of vet faculty (2008-2010). Currently, he is again the Director of Unimaid Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
He held several positions in committees both within and outside the University.
Prof. Mani also held a number of positions in the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA).
Professor Aliyu Usman Mani is Happily Married with two children. He is one of the peaceful Lecturer in his Faculty.
The Security, Rescue and Emergency officials were at the scene and seventeen (17 )injured victims were evacuated to Hospital for treatment.
