Three male suicide bombers were reported to have attempted entering Maiduguri on Sunday evening through Garki Muna village close to a military checkpoint when the IED

strapped to their bodies exploded killing all of them and a civilian JTF.A statement by the Police Public Relations Officers in Borno State, Victor Isuku says two AK-47Rifles were recovered at the scene while the third was completely destroyed as a result of the explosion.The statement adds that at about half past ten in the evening of the same day, two other suicide bombers attacked Kaleri area of Gwange leaving four persons including the two female suicide bombers dead.The Police spokesperson says both scenes have been swept clean and normalcy has since returned to affected areas. The Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) has expressed dismay over the mutiny by ex-combatants in Barracks in several cities of Cote D’Ivoire, notably in Bouake, Daloa and Korhogo on Friday, 6th January.

                                           Reconstitution Of Financial Reporting Council –

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate removal and replacement of the Executive Secretary and reconstitution of the board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.   He has appointed Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman as Chairman. This is contained in a statement by Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu. Mr. Sulaiman a Chartered Accountant, was a former Managing Partner/Director of Arthur Anderson and later, Accenture. The President also approved the appointment of Mr. Daniel Asapokhai as the Executive Secretary of the Council. Mr. Asopokhai is a partner and a Financial Reporting Specialist at the Price Water House Coopers, Nigeria. President Buhari has also instructed the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment to invite the nineteen ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government and private sector organizations specified in the FRC Act to nominate members of the council’s board.

                           FRSC No Arrests On Fire Extinguishers

The Federal Road Safety Corp says fire extinguishers, caution signs and certain traffic offences remain bookable.

This comes in a statement by the Corps Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem to correct insinuations by a section of the public on recent directives on the matter. He explains that the suspension was temporarily done over observations that the offences should not take precedence over primary offences especially during operational focus on ensuring free flow of traffic between 16th December, 2016

Saraki Pays Tribute To Late Kure

Senate President Bukola Saraki has described the death of former Governor of Niger State, Abdulkadir Kure as the great loss to a nation builder.In a condolence message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, the Senate President condoled with the government and people of Niger State pointing out that the developmental stride of the late political icon and his humble lifestyle will keep his memory alive.

Dr. Saraki commiserated with his family, especially his wife Zainab Kure who served the country as a Senator.

                                             Niger Government On Kure’s Burial

Niger State Government has slated burial of former Governor Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure for Wednesday in Minna.

A statement by Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Vatsa indicates that the funeral prayer will hold by 12 noon at Eid praying ground.The burial date was reached at a meeting between key officials of the State Government headed by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and members of the family.   Meanwhile the Etsu Lapai, Umar Bago Tafida has approved the 3-day prayer session for the repose of the soul of the former Governor for Minna shortly after burial.
