Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has been accorded a special recognition by the National Defence College.
Decorating the vice president at the state house commandant of the college, rear admiral Sanmi Alade says the award is to appreciate vice president Osinbajo who delivered a lecture at the graduation ceremony of course 24 during the year, and for contributing to the development of the college.
It would be recalled that vice president dwelt on the mandate of the military in promoting democratic practices.
Also at the vice president’s office was a delegation of the Ahmadiyyah Muslim Jammat of Nigeria led by the Amir Mashud Aderenle Fashola as part of the commemoration of the existence of the movement in Nigeria.
The Amir says they are convinced about the federal government’s Programmes especially on agriculture and efforts at revamping the economy.
He also emphasized on the need for religious tolerance.
NDC Workshop on Violent Extremism
Regional bodies have been urged to come up with policies related to human security response approach that will stem the tides of radicalization as the world grapples with the menace of terrorism.
This was the view of participants at a workshop on addressing the root causes of violent extremism organized by the national defence college in collaboration with the African Centre for study and research on terrorism.
Senate on NYSC Corp Members Death
Senate has urged the federal government to provide adequate and improved medical facilities and experienced personnel in all NYSC orientation camps across the country. This was contained in an order raised ta plenary on Thursday.
Reps on Mandatory Formation of Cabinet
The house of representatives has passed at second reading a bill for an act to make it mandatory for the president or governor to nominate ministers or commissioners within thirty days of taking an oath of office.
Members at Thursday’s plenary also urged the federal government to suspend the ban on importation of vehicles through land borders.
Roundtable on Identity Management
The federal government hopes to use the national identity card as voter card in future elections calling on stakeholders within the identity management system to accelerate the process of incorporating this into the national identity base.
It was vice president Yemi Osinbajo’ message at a policy roundtable meeting on the matter for governance.
