FG to launch medium term economic recovery plan next month
The federal government is to launch a medium term economic plan next month tagged Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth (NERG) plan.
Minister of budget and national planning senator Udoma Udo Udoma stated this when he met with state commissioners for budget and economic planning to address emerging socio-economic policy issues in the country with a view to improving Nigeria’s economy.
The Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth plan which has a time frame of three years is designed to have national outlook which requires inputs from the sub national governments hence the presence of state commissioners of budget and economic planning at this meeting.
Minister of budget and national planning says the goal is to have an economy with low inflation, stable exchange rates, and a diversified and inclusive growth.
The NERG plan will build on the existing strategic implementation plan (SIP) which is an interim plan developed in April 2016.
The president had promised Nigerians that his administration will prepare a comprehensive medium term plan by the end of 2016.
The plan therefore is in fulfillment of the goal of identifying short-term recovery initiatives and also presenting a medium term growth plan.
