Osinbajo Meets Saraki, Dogara In Closed Door

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had a closed-door meeting with Senate President Bukola

Saraki, House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and some State Governors led by Chairman of the Governors’ Forum Abdulazziz Yari. The Senate President spoke to State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting.

Presidency Warns Against Famine Early Next Year

The Presidency has warned that Nigerian currently Africa’s largest producer of cereals and grains risks famine from early next year following a huge demand in the global market that is targeting the country’s surplus production.

Giving the grim forecast in a radio interview in Kano on Monday, spokesman of the President, Garba Shehu told Pyramid Radio that the huge demand for our grains in the global market is creating an excellent environment for the mindless export of Nigerian grains across our borders and unless this is curtailed, Nigerian markets will be bereft of food by January next year.

The Presidential spokesman said the Ministry of Agriculture has advised the President on the need to draw the attention of all Nigerians to this issue which, if not addressed promptly, could lead to a shortage of grains in our country by January.

Youth Skills Key To Economic Growth During Recession

Nigerian youths have been advised to develop their entrepreneurship skills in order to contribute immensely towards the growth of the Nigerian economy, the growth of the Nigerian Economy, especially during this time of Recession.

This was the view of Speakers at the Joint initiative for Development Forum in Abuja

 

Church Clamours Support For Fight Against Corruption

Primate, the Church of the Lord Prayer Fellowship, Most Reverend Dr. Rufus Ositelu, has called on Nigerians to support Buhari-led administration in its fight against corruption as every move made is a step in the right direction.

Edo State Governor Makes First Appointments

Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has made the following appointment:

Mr. Sarodion Ogie (Esq) as secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Taiwo Francis Akerele, Chief of Staff who until now was the Project Coordinator for the World Bank Public Financial Management and youth Empowerment programme for Edo state.

Mr. Akerele previously served as Senior Policy Economist to the Governor between 2008 and 2011.
