President Buhari Unveils Petroleum Industry Road Map
The Minister of Petroleum Resources has been tasked to do whatever it takes towards maximizing the potentials and opportunities in the oil and gas industry, so as to stimulate the nation’s economy in spite of the current challenges.
President Muhammadu Buhari who threw the challenge at the public presentation of the petroleum industry road map, described the oil and gas sector as a national imperative and core thrust of Nigeria’s economy policy.

President Buhari Meets Gowon
President Muhammadu Buhari this Thursday granted audience to the former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon in furtherance of his strategic consultations with critical stakeholders in the change Nigeria project. The presidential villa at about 2 o’clock in the afternoon was received by the president at the entrance to his office.
The two leaders thereafter retreated for talks behind closed doors which lasted about one hour.
Details of their discussions were not made public and General Gowon did not speak to journalists.
This is the second time the former head of state is visiting the president in the last two months.

The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a bill for an act to amend the Nigerian Communications Act which seeks among others to prohibit the sales of illegally registered SIMS cards.
The bill also provides for the prohibition of adult content in the provision of internet service.

Foreign Affairs Minister Reacts to African Countries Withdrawal from ICC
Following the recent withdrawal announcement of membership by the International Criminal Court of Justice, by South Africa and the Gambia, some other African Countries have also shown their interests to follow suit.
Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama has been speaking on the nation’s position.
The minister says Nigeria is not in any way considering the plan of giving up her membership of the hague-based court but will rather continue to support what the court stands for.

Minister of Power at Kashimbila
The Federal Government has set 2018 for the completion of the Kashimbila multipurpose dam as payment of outstanding funds has been approved.
Minister of Power, Works, and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola disclosed this on inspection of the project in Taraba state.

NERC Nominee on Appointment Rejection
President Buhari’s nominee for the chairmanship of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission says he has not rejected the offer but is in the process of clearing with his current employer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S.A.
In a letter to the chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, sent through the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Sen. ITA Enang, Prof. Akinwande said he did not turn down the offer by President Muhammadu Buhari as reported in the media.
The Professor said he has the greatest respect for President Buhari and is fully behind the change he is bringing to government business.
Prof. Akinwande apologized to the Senate Committee for not showing up for the screening process scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2017, noting that it was not out of disrespect for the institution.
He assured that he would be available for the screening after clearance from the MIT.
