AFRICAST 2016: Nigeria Hosts African, World Broadcast Stakeholders

Nigeria will host the biggest gathering of African broadcasters and other stakeholders from Tuesday, 18th to 20th October in Abuja, the capital city.

The National Broadcasting Commission in Nigeria also confirmed to Newsmen that a lot of participants from across the globe have been converging on Abuja ahead of the conference and also that the broadcast regulator was ready to host a hitch-free event.

Dr. Armstrong Idachaba, a Director in the office of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission said “all arrangements are in place for the conference.”

Ahead of the broadcast conference, the Director General of the NBC, Mallam Modibbo Kawu also revealed that digital Broadcasting will change the face of broadcasting in Africa and there was no better platform to facilitate that than AFRICAST.

“The revolution will also create business opportunities, jobs as well as improve standards of broadcasting on the continent, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission in Nigeria,” Kawu said.

He said AFRICAST has evolved as an investment platform and market place of ideas and material. At AFRICAST Industry players will listen to Conference papers, attend master classes and discussions which are rich and engaging.

Some other activities lined up for the event are; exhibition of top quality; cutting edge digital broadcast equipment which broadcasters would find very rewarding for their businesses.

The theme of this year’s conference is Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting: Financing Quality Content.
