Restoring Dignity in Northern Nigeria

This was the crux of submissions at an event tagged “the essence and need for northern life Nigeria” held in Abuja.
Since insurgency surfaced in the north-east of Nigeria, the stories about the north from different channels have been depicting images of violence displacement and desolation as well as projecting the people as heartless.
Farida Yahya a graduate of biochemistry, university of Maiduguri has been concerned about the development because according to her the tone of these narratives is far from the truth.
Her drive to cause change, in the situation gave birth to a lifestyle blog, named northernlifeng an online platform designed to showcase the diversity of northern Nigerian.
Farida says through continuous exploring of the rich cultural history of her people, the area’s endowments, fashion and literature among several other things, northern Nigeria will again be where everyone will love to be.
At the formal launching of the blog northernlifeng, speakers say projecting the aesthetic of the northern region’s rich cultural heritage will help restore woman dignity of the area.
While commending Farida’s initiative they called on Nigerians to develop programs geared towards promoting peace and uniting the nation.
