After a historic and crucial win over Croatia 90-76 in the 4th group match in the basketball event of the Rio Olympics, the Nigerian male team, D’Tigers, will take on host nation, Brazil Monday 15th, August in a must-win game to lighten up their chance of moving into the Q/Finals.

The reigning AfroBasket champions had lost 96-66 to Argentina, to Lithuania 89-80 and 96-87 to Spain.

However, for the Nigerian basketball side D’Tigers’ to earn qualification into the Q/finals of the mens Olympic basketball tournament, Lithuania must also defeat Croatia, who have lost two matches and won two.

Nigeria captain Ike Diogu is confident that Nigeria will conquer Brazil.

Speaking with FIBA.com, Diogu said “I’m really proud of my guys. We came out here and our backs are against the wall and we battled. We have a golden opportunity to make history, coach told us that a long time ago. Here we are. It’s going to be tough, but if we play like that, we can pull it off.”

D’Tigers will face Brazil Monday 15th, August at 6:15pm. NTA Network Service will be bringing you live coverage of the game.
